THE NEW REALITY

Welcome to Multicultural Nation!

Today in the US, Hispanics (16.9%), African-Americans (13.1%), Asian-Americans (5.1%) and Native Americans/Pacific Islanders (1.4%) represent almost 115 million people, making up  over 36% of the country. For the past decade, the Multicultural population has been the driving force in the United States economically, culturally, and politically, and will only become more influential in the years to come. The Millennial Generation (also known as “Generation Y”), is on track  to become the largest consumer group in the country – and and approximately 40% of that group is made up of people from Multicultural backgrounds – and this cohort is only going to grow.

THE INDUSTRY’S TALENT GAP

Despite the rise of the Multicultural population in the US, we haven’t seen exceptional representation of Multicultural talent within our industry – and we’re hoping to change that. It is well documented that Multicultural professionals are underrepresented across the board – within the media industry and beyond —  and with the MCTP, our goal is to bring awareness about careers in media to a completely capable yet underrepresented talent pool. Not only is it hard for young Multicultural talent to find career opportunities within the media industry, but it’s difficult for media companies to source multicultural talent as well – and that’s where MCTP hopes to bridge the divide.

THE STUDENT PERSPECTIVE

While it may be hard for companies, it’s even harder for students. In an industry built on relationships, it is often difficult to make the right connections and meet the right people when you’re fresh out of university. Our goal is to make is easier for Multicultural students to get their foot in the door and start a career in the media, marketing & advertising industries. The talent gap is perpetuated by the lack of information about our industry being provided to students before they graduate and start the job search –until now!

AJ Pandya

With experience across several industries, AJ’s focus now lies on the Sonic and Verizon FiOS businesses, where he and his team have contributed to unprecedented recent success and innovation in media.

Since 2013, AJ and his team have implemented various holistic strategies, tying offline & online media to deliver a consistent “wall of sound” to prospects of the business. Sonic, however, initially made its name through a groundbreaking nationwide TV plan, that AJ and team have supplemented with recent innovative 360-degree campaigns featuring innovative digital activations and content-based solutions.

Ben Alexander

SVP, Sales, Sabio

Ben leads the East Coast sales team from Sabio’s NY office. Prior to joining Sabio Mobile, Ben was the Senior Vice President Of National Digital Sales at Pulpo Media (An Entravision Company). With 14 + years of digital marketing experience, Ben has led both regional and national sales efforts to both Hispanic and general market audiences across linear and interactive media. Ben has held leadership roles at People En Español Magazine, Latina Media Ventures, Adconion Direct, AT&T AdWorks and Univision. When Ben isn’t working, he spends his free time with his family and friends enjoying all things outdoors and relaxing from his new home in Brooklyn.

Bennett Bennett

Staff Writer, The Drum

Bennett D. Bennett is a staff writer at The Drum covering agencies, the media landscape, creativity and innovation. An NYC native, MAIP alum and City College of New York grad, Bennett previously was an award-winning copywriter at BBDO New York and lends his unique perspective and voice to The Drum's editorial staff. Previously a member of the Adcolor Advisory Board, he currently sits on the AAF's Mosaic Next-Generation Leadership Council and the 4As Steering Committee.

Brian Vaught

SVP, Talent Inclusion, Publicis Media

As SVP of Talent Inclusion with Publicis Media, Brian champions a consistent culture of inclusion through talent engagement and inclusion programming across Publicis Media and its brands: Starcom, Zenith, Digitas, Spark Foundry, Blue 449 and Performics.

Firmly committed to addressing diversity and inclusion head-on, Brian spearheads Publicis Media’s Multicultural Talent Pipeline program, which was established to introduce college juniors and seniors to the myriad of employment opportunities available to them within the media and advertising industries. Brian also serves as a member of Publicis Groupe’s Talent Engagement & Inclusion Council and a mentor to the company’s many business resource groups including Égalité, and VivaWomen!.

Brian was recently honored with the 2018 Leadership Excellence Award by the Tri-State National Diversity Council and serves as a board member for the 4A’s Diversity & Inclusion Steering Committee. With over 14 years of experience in the media industry, Brian has held roles spanning client service, business development, recruiting, training, and corporate social responsibility.

Dana Bonkowski

SVP, Multicultural Lead Starcom USA

Dana is a 24-year Starcom veteran. A founding member of Tapestry and Starcom Multicultural, she has experienced first-hand the multicultural impact on mainstream America and knows how to objectively and successfully steer clients forward. Her current role is Multicultural Lead for Starcom, where she advances cultural understanding across the agency and helps new and veteran clients deliver growth through multicultural audiences. Dana has steered several award-winning teams and serves as a North American Effie Judge.

Ericka Riggs

Advocate. Producer. Creative. Mom., The Advertising Club of New York

Ericka Riggs’ natural state of mind is curious—her desire to see and explore the world stems from her childhood spent as a corporate gypsy. Ericka’s family steadily moved every three to four years, moving across the country, from Texas to New York, she attended well over five primary schools and two high schools, graduating high school in Paoli, PA. Needless to say, these experiences expanded Ericka’s views and understandings of the world, and she applies that adventurous mindset to her life whenever possible.
In her professional life, Ericka is equal parts architect and entrepreneur, continuously taking on roles that require lots of legwork and building of programs from scratch. In September of 2016, Ericka joined the AD Club of NY as its Foundation and Inclusion Manager—a role in which she advocates, manages and develops talent pipeline programs, diversity-outreach efforts, and cultural experiences.
Ericka joined the AD Club after ten years at Northern Virginia Community College(NOVA), where she served as their Head of Marketing and Communications. In that role, she helped develop the branding and goals of their educational program, Pathway to the Baccalaureate, which was created to provide a successful pathway for underrepresented students towards their baccalaureate degrees. Through Pathway, Ericka supported some of the nation’s leading educational programs for at-risk students by advocating on Capitol Hill, while also working hand in hand with dedicated individuals from top global think tanks, and corporations to establish best practices in recruitment, retention and college completion of diverse students.
Prior to her time at NOVA, Ericka spent time with UniWorld Group (UWG), where she was involved in all facets of the advertising business; creative affairs, event producer, media buying, and broadcast producer. Ericka also ran UWG’s, American Black Film Festival, working as an event producer in Acapulco, Mexico and Miami, Florida, she developed, planned and hosted various events and programs that helped film students and young professionals build their reels, get advice from top professionals in the industry, receive scholarships and, in many cases, land a job.
Ericka also spent considerable time developing marketing and branding strategies for Motown and MCA Records recording artists.
Outside of her day job, Ericka continues the push to diversify the industry, mentoring students from various high schools and colleges, joining the search for new talent by judging applications for Howard University’s Alumni internship program, and as a portfolio judge for City College’s BIC program. Ensuring representation of different voices, especially those which are historically underrepresented in conversations and initiatives, is her true mission and passion.

Erin Spira

Marketing Capability Lead @ Verizon, Adfellows

Erin is an established marketing lead with a unique background including big media agency, global consulting, and digital measurement along with marketing operations that has spanned across numerous client categories. She has demonstrated proven success in driving revenue, business development, marketing and sales strategy, contract negotiations, financial and project management and staff development.

At Verizon, Erin has held roles overseeing key agency partnerships by governing overall efficiency, performance and talent management across media, PR, experiential and content marketing. Erin is a creator, curator and lead of the adfellows program for Verizon.

Erin holds her Bachelor of Science degree in Advertising and Marketing and Master of Science degree in Management with Business & Human Resource concentrations.

Erin lives in Westchester with her husband and children. She is an Avid skier – both winter and water, with a love of cycling, swimming, cooking and photography. She is also a volunteer teacher of Junior Achievement of CT and Parent Council Treasurer.

Esther “E.T.” Franklin

EVP, Managing Director, Strategy and Cultural Fluency, Spark Foundry

Esther “E.T.” Franklin has changed the way the advertising industry looks at multiculturalism. By encouraging marketers to take what she calls an “inside out” perspective, she’s helped iconic brands understand cultural identities and media consumption habits of local and global audiences.
As EVP, Managing Director of Strategy and Cultural Fluency at Spark Foundry, Esther develops and drives the agency’s strategic vision in the marketplace and within its own agency’s walls. With her pulse on what’s next and the ability to synthesize trends, Esther leads her team in the ideation and execution of cutting-edge approaches that deepen relationships between brands and high-growth, diverse audiences. As a result, clients do not merely respond to culture, they comfortably engage with it.
Before transitioning her expertise to Spark Foundry in 2016, Esther led the creative vision for Starcom Mediavest Group’s (SMG) Human Experience Strategy, and most recently, the multicultural division of Publicis Media. At SMG, her passion for culture and identity inspired the creation of Beyond Demographics, a proprietary research exploring the role of subculture in redefining communities—notably African-American, Latino, Asian-Amerian and LGBT—and guides clients to better engage with these audiences. Additionally, Esther pioneered Cultural Communication Anthropology, which explores cultural behaviors and communication consumption patterns to understand the impact on people’s adoption of brands, services, message engagement and content development. She also spearheaded the creation of Consumer Context Planning, which transformed SMG from media company to marketing partner with a stronger emphasis on emerging communication vehicles and human understanding.
Esther spent the early part of her career at Leo Burnett working on various Philip Morris brands as VP, planning director for Marlboro USA. She was instrumental in launching several corporate trend initiatives, including LeoShe, Foresight Matters and 20Twenty Vision, focused on the female consumer and twenty-something audience.
From being named an Advertising Age “Women to Watch” to receiving the “Changing the Game” honor from Advertising Women of New York (now She Runs It), Esther is celebrated industrywide for shifting the paradigm on how marketers view and communicate with consumers. Black Enterprise named Esther one of the Top Women Executives in Advertising & Marketing in 2011, 2013, 2014 and 2016, and in 2011, AdColor honored her with its “Legend Award.”
Esther is a board member of the Family Institute at Northwestern University and the Chicago Urban League. And was previously chair of The HistoryMakers National Advisory Board's Advertising/Marketing Committee.
A Chicago native, Esther received a bachelor of science in business administration from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and her master's of management at Northwestern University’s Kellogg Business School.

Helen Lin

Chief Diversity Officer, Publicis Media

A catalyst of innovation, a pioneer of programmatic, a collaborative business partner, and fierce believer in diversity and inclusion, Helen Lin is Chief Digital Officer for Publicis Media. She oversees all digital strategy, partnerships, investment and negotiations on behalf of the network globally, representing the group in industry-leading initiatives and enabling our clients to remain at the forefront of the rapidly-evolving digital ecosystem.

Prior to her promotion to Publicis Media, Helen served as Managing Director, Digital & Magazine Activation at Zenith for over five years, overseeing the planning, buying, integration and analysis of digital media platforms and print properties for clients including Verizon, Chase, Coty, Kohl’s, Farmers, and others.

In her Zenith role, she led major agency initiatives from spearheading the effort to bring Zenith’s print and digital activation teams, making Zenith the first in the industry to align content planning and buying with publishers, agnostic of platform. She helped lead the practice of bringing Programmatic competency in-house to Zenith, integrating programmatic capabilities and bringing data driven insights into the hands of client teams; and she was integral in integrating Analytics into the Communications Strategy teams, expanding the team’s remit beyond digital measurement to data informed audience insights discovery. Helen’s vision, collaboration and leadership in these massive initiatives led to widespread industry recognition, including by being named a 2016 Cynopsis Top Women in Digital honoree and a 2016 Adweek Media All-Star, a 212NYC Thought leader in 2017 and a Broadcasting and Cable Digital All-Star in 2018. In 2017, Helen was appointed Digital chair for the American Advertising Federation (AAF).

Helen’s professional focus goes beyond client and agency work, as she has established a reputation as an incredible mentor and role model among her teams. As the Executive Sponsor of the Women’s Business Resource Group POW! (Power of Women), Helen makes it her personal mission to create conversations around female leadership and diversity in the workplace. Helen earned her bachelor degree at UCLA and her MBA at NYU.

Ivy Chang

Associate Director of FutureX Labs, Moxie

Ivy leads Moxie’s corporate incubation initiative, ProjectX, which pushes employees to invent new prototypes, drive disruptive innovation and experiment with emerging technologies. As part of Moxie’s FutureX Labs, she develops forward-thinking marketing strategies and solutions to help future-enable Moxie and its clients. Ivy has leveraged her expertise to help drive success for brands like L’Oreal, Georgia-Pacific, 20th Century Fox, Verizon, Wells Fargo and more.

Jill Kelly

Chief Marketing Officer, Digitas & Publicis Spine

As Global Chief Marketing Officer, Jill leads marketing and communications at Digitas, the connected marketing agency, with 3,500 employees across 21 countries and 34 offices. In addition, Jill is Chief Marketing Officer at Publicis Spine, a global entity for Publicis Groupe’s 3,500 data scientists that drives marketing solutions with a data-first approach.

Under Jill’s tenure, Digitas has received coveted industry accolades, including OMMA Agency of the Year, AdAge “A-List”, and ADWEEK “Agency of the Year”. In 2012, Jill helped create and establish the Digital Content NewFronts, an annual marketplace for digital video content with a projected commercial value of $18 billion in 2020. She is also a chief architect of the Digitas NewFront, now in its 11th year. In 2015, Jill was honored with a ColorComm Circle Award.

Jill serves as 2nd Vice President on the She Runs It (formerly AWNY) Board of Directors, is a member of the ColorComm Board of Directors, sits on the PR committee of the 4A’s, and is an active participant in professional mentorship programs both at Digitas and through She Runs It. Jill played an instrumental role in the founding of Women@Digitas, an initiative to grow and support female leaders throughout the agency via formalized programs and hiring mandates. Jill also sits on the board of the John A. Reisenbach Foundation, an organization that works to create a better and safer New York.

Prior to Digitas, Jill was EVP, Global Communications Director for Starcom MediaVest Group and Corporate Communications Director for MediaVest USA. She has also worked at McCann-Erickson, Universal McCann, and J. Walter Thompson in various roles. Jill’s talents were evident early in her career. She was named an AdAge “Rising Star” and was the recipient of the Gene Kummel scholarship, a rising star program offered at McCann-Erickson, which provided her with the opportunity to work in Beijing. Jill attended the State University of New York at Binghamton.

Despite her many achievements, Jill’s favorite role is tickle monster and mom to her three children.

LaShika Howard

Senior Manager, Career and Alumni Services, T. Howard Foundation

LaShika Howard is Senior Manager, Career and Alumni Services for the T. Howard Foundation (THF), a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization whose mission is to promote diversity in media and entertainment by increasing the number of diverse and underrepresented groups and underserved communities within the industry.
With a deep understanding of the skills and experiences required to succeed in today’s workforce, LaShika is committed to equipping young professionals with key tools and resources to help ensure that they are better prepared and qualified for full-time employment and career advancement opportunities.
LaShika holds a Master’s degree in Human Resources and a Bachelor’s degree in Business from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She has spent most of her career helping professionals evaluate and achieve their career aspirations, as well as helping business leaders attract and secure the best talent for their hiring needs.
LaShika has more than 15 years of expertise in executive recruitment, talent pipeline development and building relationships with senior leaders. She has been instrumental in expanding THF’s alumni network, increasing the number of full-time hires in the media industry, and developing and managing the Foundation’s Talent Development Program, Diversity Advancement Program, and Diversity Partners initiative.

Lisa Torres

Lisa is heavily involved in our Talent Engagement and Inclusion initiatives and is a founding member of the Publicis Media Inclusion Council. Because of her breadth of knowledge and experience, Lisa is consistently sought out for speaking engagements at multicultural marketing and advertising conferences across nationally. Lisa has spoken at events ranging from the ARF’s Leading with Multicultural Speaker Series to the Horowitz Cultural Insights Forum, has been an instructor for the ReFrame the Brand Masterclass and was the keynote speaker at B&C’s Hispanic TV Summit in 2017. With over 25 years of experience, has held positions across agencies including MPG (Havas Media), Carat (Aegis), and others. Last year, Lisa was named to the Steering Committee for the ARF newly for formed Cultural Effectiveness Council. She has been honored by the Association of Hispanic Agencies (AHAA) as Hispanic Executive of the Year (2012), named President of the 4A’S Multicultural Committee (2008), and was named to Crain’s New York Top 40 Under 40 and Mediaweek’s Media All-Star lists in 2004.

Liz Sanderson

Senior Vice President, Strategy & Insights, Univision

Liz leads the Strategy & Insights organization at Univision, a group of marketers whose goal is to help corporations capitalize on the US Hispanic consumer as a source of growth. The Strategy & Insights team are experts on the Hispanic Consumer and Shopper. They focus on uncovering consumer and shopper insights, measuring advertising effectiveness and, using both syndicated and proprietary research.
Prior to Univision, Liz was with Procter & Gamble for 16 years specializing in laundry detergents, skin care and fragrances and has U.S., Latin American and European market Experience. Liz lives in New York with her husband, two kids Nick & Sophia and dog Hazel.

Marla Skiko

EVP of Precision and Multicultural, Starcom USA

Marla Skiko is a pioneer in the digital marketing and media space focused on creating data informed solutions for marketers. As EVP of Precision and Multicultural for Starcom USA, Marla oversees all U.S. Precision activation for the agency, leading teams who are on the cutting edge of technology and data driven capabilities to drive effectiveness and efficiency for clients. She also provides executive guidance and oversight of the Multicultural practice at Starcom.

Starcom’s Precision offering spans all traditional and emerging programmatic channels to deliver clients unprecedented marketplace clout, access and expertise. Precision’s marketplace clout secures the best rates and first-look inventory opportunities coupled with a tech-agnostic approach to select the best solutions that fit clients’ individual needs.

Marla brings more than 25 years in marketing, emerging media, content and a deep understanding of the U.S. consumer spectrum. Previously, she was the digital lead for Publicis Media’s Multicultural practice where she was EVP, Director of Digital & Data Solutions. She also spent 16 years at SMG Multicultural, and Tapestry, where she oversaw the agency’s digital division driving firsts such as first
in language search efforts and first multicultural video upfront. During this time, Marla and her team developed a strong foundation and reputation within the multicultural marketplace, spanning all media and servicing clients such as Procter & Gamble, Kraft Heinz, Walmart, Allstate and Burger King.

Marla was named one of Advertising Age’s “Women to Watch” in 2009 for her future-focused innovations in the digital space. Her team has also won many IAB MIXX awards for excellence in digital, including gold in 2014 for their interactive work on Allstate. More recently, Marla was awarded the 2015 MAFA Trailblazer award for technology and innovation.

Marla earned a bachelor of science from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana.

Nikki Buchanan

National Sales and Strategy Lead for Multicultrual Growth Segments, Pandora

Nikki Buchanan is an experienced media professional who has earned an excellent reputation from contributions to powerhouse brands including Vibe, Ebony, Parenting and People magazines as well as BET Networks, Vanguarde Media, A+E Networks and Pandora Media. Known for her business acumen, innovative marketing strategies, and her perceptive wit, Nikki recognizes the deep emotion and passion we all have for music. This powerful influence has led to the creation of truly authentic integrated 360 programs that have aligned print, tv, digital, grassroots events and retail partnerships. Possessing an extensive knowledge and appreciation for music, Nikki identifies it as the central element that has consistently sparked creative solutions, secured key partnerships and led to consistent year-over-year growth.
At Pandora, Nikki takes the lead in growing the African American multicultural segment. Drawing upon her vast experience, she facilitates conversations around music and culture to provide depth and perspective, while highlighting the relevance of music and African American culture. As National Account Director, Nikki serves as an expert for Pandora around African American consumer insights and distinctive cultural nuances within music as the predominant cultural connector. Her efforts have led to explosive growth of the multicultural division and the African American business segment.

Nikki is a dedicated mentor and reliable volunteer for organizations that protect the rights of women and children. She is also committed to the preservation of legacy organizations that service the community.

A graduate of Northwestern University, Nikki is the mom of a beautiful son, Hudson, and the loving wife to her husband Andreas.

Sandra Sims-Williams

Chief Diversity Officer, Publicis Groupe

Sandra Sims-Williams believes that diversity is a vital part of an organization’s competitive advantage and merits inclusion in the business goals and outcomes of an organization. As Publicis Groupe’s Chief Diversity Officer, Sandra is charged with developing and sustaining diversity and inclusion strategies, initiatives, tools and measurement for nearly 24,000 employees working in all brands and business units operating in the US. She also chairs the Publicis Groupe Talent Engagement & Inclusion Council which is made up of leaders from across Publicis Groupe’s agency network.

A 20+ year veteran, Sandra has worked tirelessly to champion talent engagement, diversity and inclusion efforts across Publicis Groupe’s agencies and the industry-at-large. Within Publicis Groupe, she is the lead for the Publicis Groupe launch of VivaWomen! USA and continues to develop opportunities to empower women through conference attendance (Black Enterprise Women of Power, ColorComm, Out & Equal etc.), professional development venues, e.g. Odyssey Network (for senior level women from all industries). Sandra has organized a weekly women’s group called “Journey to the Well,” which takes its inspiration from the popular book of the same name, written by Bishop Vashti McKenzie – the first female bishop of the African Methodist Episcopal Church (AME) and first female president of the church’s Council of Bishops.

She is also an industry-recognized authority in diversity who has facilitated and authored a “go to” resource for the 4A’s Diversity Committee, “The Competitive Edge” which was launched in 2012. Sandra also organized and chaired the Roundtable for Advertising Diversity Executives (RADE) to address diversity and inclusion in the advertising/communication industry. She has worked with the NY Ad Club and New York Department of Education to increase the awareness of advertising as a career to high school students. Sandra has received numerous awards and recognition for her contributions including: President’s Award, NY Ad Club; Global Visionary Award, Howard University School of Communication; Rosoff “Mentoring” Award, Boston Ad Club; Academy of Women Achievers, 2010, Boston YWCA.

Sandra holds a B.A. from Rutgers University and a M.A. from Hunter College in New York. She is passionate about counseling and guiding young women and is an involved member of her community serving as a executive board member of the Advertising Club of New York and the boards of ColorComm and the New York Women in Communications group. Previously, she has served as a member of the Women’s Executive Committee of the Boston Chamber a member of the Diversity and Advisory Committees for the Boston Ad Club; as a member of the Executive Council for WGBH, Boston’s PBS station; and is an alumnus of The Partnership, an organization to help attract and retain people of color to Boston.

Shenan Reed

President, Chief Client Officer, VM1

As President, Chief Client Officer for Verizon, Shenan Reed oversees the client’s Power of One solution, managing Verizon’s strategic activity across the Publicis Groupe agencies serving its business, including VM1 --the dedicated Verizon unit housed at Zenith. She is responsible for creating bespoke solutions that drive the Verizon business forward.
An entrepreneurial business leader with over 20 years of experience, Reed was most recently President of the US L’Oréal Business at Wavemaker (formerly MEC), where she oversaw the strategic direction of the agency’s partnership with the beauty brand.
Prior to her tenure at Wavemaker, Reed founded the digital marketing agency Morpheus Media, which became renowned for its work with premier luxury, fashion and retail clients. Over the course of her career, Reed has worked with an impressive roster of blue chip brands across various categories including The New York Times, Neiman Marcus, LVMH, Net-A-Porter, Lord & Taylor, Tiffany & Co., Chanel, A&E Networks, Vimeo, IFC, Sundance and The Economist.

Solange Claudio

She possesses a diverse background, with more than 18 years of experience spanning multiple facets of marketing — from online media and CRM to social, mobile and technology solutions. Understanding that the key to driving success for brands lies in the seamless integration of data, content and technology, she is able to steward agencies in delivering best-in-class marketing communication initiatives that drive business results for their clients.

As Chief Operating Officer, Solange oversees to operations and structure across, Moxie – a modern marketing solutions agency headquartered in Atlanta, with offices in Los Angeles, New York and Pittsburgh, MRY - a dynamic creative agency based in New York and Zenith – a media buying and planning powerhouse with offices across the US. Prior to her current roles, she spent several years at IPG’s McCann/MRM agencies and WPP’s OgilvyOne. A proud mother of three daughters, Solange has a passion for education that is clearly reflected in the degrees she’s earned from three alma maters — Cornell, NYU and Harvard — as well as in her involvement with the UGA Grady School of Communication, the Advertising & PR board and the Georgia Junior Achievement Board.

Tim Jones

CEO, Publicis Media, Americas

As the CEO of Publicis Media, Americas, Tim is committed to ensuring that each agency and client receives the resources in talent, tools and technology necessary to drive competitive advantage.
In the past two years, Tim has overseen the reorganization of Publicis Media, including the establishment of a new investment arm, PMX (Publicis Media Exchange, the largest media investment operation in the US), and the realignment of its brands as Blue 449, Digitas, Moxie, MRY Performics, Relevant24, Spark Foundry, Starcom and Zenith. At the same time, the company has enjoyed strong growth with reported total media billings of some $40B, including a number of new business wins such as Audible, DeVry University, Discover, Henkel, KFC, Lionsgate, Lowe’s, Mattel, MillerCoors, Motorola, MTV, Red Bull, Telemundo, Tempur Sealy, Southwest Airlines and USAA.
Prior to his current role, Tim was the CEO of ZenithOptimedia, North America. Under Tim’s leadership, the agency experienced unprecedented growth over a ten-year period, resulting in Zenith becoming a top three media agency in the US.
Tim also acts as Chairman of Performics, overseeing its global rollout plan from the US to over 50 countries worldwide to become the pre-eminent global performance marketing agency. Similarly, Tim now oversees Digitas globally, which became part of the Publicis Media family of brands at the end of 2017.
As a market leader, Publicis Media has developed a number of industry-leading programs including a Graduate Training program that now hires over 500 fresh graduates each year, as well as a comprehensive training program from Associate to President levels, and multi-faceted social responsibility initiatives rendered though each of the Publicis Media brands, including Give Back days and pro-bono support.
Tim gives support to several charities and non-profit causes, including Autism Speaks, where the agency is the pro-bono AOR, and Tim is a board member. He also sits on the executive board of the Ad Council (where Zenith, and now Publicis Media, has pioneered the adoption of media agencies within the AdCouncil agency support model), in addition to the board of the ANA and its Education Foundation (the AEF).
Emigrating from the UK in 1999, Tim and his wife and three children became US citizens over 10 years ago and live in Connecticut with their Golden Retriever dog. His passions surround anything involving “live” performance: music, acting, sport and dance.

Trevor Johnson

Director, Global Agency Partnerships, Facebook

Trevor joined Facebook in early 2008 as one of Facebook's first employees outside of the US, taking on the role of Head of Strategy and Planning to help build the EMEA organisation. He then moved to a global role to help build the APAC and LATAM commercial operations. In total Trevor assisted in establishing 14 Facebook offices across the globe as Facebook expanded its commercial footprint. Trevor now has a leadership role within Facebook's Global Agency Partnerships function, based in London. This team manages the strategic global relationships between Facebook and some of its large media and creative agency partners. As well as this, Trevor has a leadership role in Facebook’s Black@ Employee Resources Group which seeks to champion diversity and inclusion inside and outside of Facebook, as well as being an advisor to a number of organisations in the sector. Prior to this, Trevor held a series of senior Marketing and Strategy roles at AOL in Europe and at Ernst and Young, as a Business and Strategy Analyst. He is also an investor in a chain of cafes in London.

What is the Multicultural Talent Pipeline?

The Multicultural Talent Pipeline (MCTP) is an educational immersion into the media, marketing and the advertising businesses. The MCTP brings multicultural students from participating colleges and universities together, giving them access to industry leaders who can provide a real-world perspective on key areas of the business, including media strategy, planning, buying, digital, analytics,  branded entertainment and more.

What should I wear to the event?

Dress to Impress! We like to call our attire “Fashion-forward / business casual”. Confidence is grounded in comfort and we want you to feel good so you can be at your best over the next two days. Dress nicely but be comfortable as well so you can make the most of this opportunity!

What should I bring to the event?
